The Maldives Meteorological Service (Met Office) has stated that heavy rain is expected in the southern islands of the Maldives over the next three days.

The Met Office told "One" today that while the northern islands of the Maldives experienced some effects of the storm Kenry, heavy rain is expected mainly in the southern islands of the country.

"Wind speeds will average between 5 and 15 miles per hour. This applies to all areas of central Maldives for the next two to three days as well," the Met Office said.

Some rain is likely in the Male' area over the next 24 hours.

"Not extremely heavy rain, but it might rain for a longer period when the wind is calm. The wind is not strong. The sea is not rough. It's mainly rainy weather," the Met Office said.
