The investment required for projects aimed at establishing independence and peace in the Maldives has been increased to USD 100 million.

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has today amended the "Presidential Decree No. 2024/6 on Determining Important Projects to be Implemented Under an Economic Policy Aimed at Achieving Public Benefit of the State".

In the amended decree, the President stated that according to Article 5 (m) (3) of the Tourism Act, he sees it necessary to make changes to the previously announced decree that set out important projects and minimum investment amounts for projects to be implemented under economic or social policies aimed at achieving public benefit of the state.

Therefore, the President said he has made these amendments today. The amendment states that "projects planned to protect and safeguard the independence, sovereignty, and autonomy of the Maldives, and to maintain national peace" must now have an investment of 100 million dollars.

The amendment states that such projects will be carried out throughout the Maldives.

In a previous decree issued by President Muizzu, it was stated that such projects required an investment of USD 15 million.
