The Male' City Council has decided to provide assistance for those who wish to submit complaints regarding the "Gedhoruveryaa" scheme by visiting the council.

The Housing Ministry has extended the deadline for submitting complaints about the list of people who received flats under the "Gedhoruveryaa" scheme, which was carried out by former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih's government, until the 15th of next month.

In an announcement released today, the Male' City Council stated that to assist those who want to submit complaints under the scheme, this service will be available at the council's public services section.

The council said that assistance for submitting complaints will be provided at specific times every day except Friday, from today until the 15th of next month.

Assistance times:

  • From March 31 to April 5: 10:00 AM to 2:30 PM, and 9:30 PM to 11:00 PM.
  • From April 6 to April 15: 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, and 9:00 PM to 11:00 PM.

The Housing Ministry published the list of people who received flats under the Gedhoruveryaa scheme on February 27.

At a press conference held at the President's Office that day, Housing Minister Dr. Abdullah Muttalib said that when the current government verified the applications of 4,939 people on the list determined by the previous government to receive flats, only 1,820 people met the criteria. This includes 1,423 people eligible for three-bedroom flats and 397 for two-bedroom flats.

The Minister said that 2,695 applications were deemed ineligible, while 424 applications were removed from the list due to changes in points.

The Minister stated that many applicants failed to meet the criteria because they submitted documents other than those required. He mentioned that many applicants had submitted letters from councils stating they were not residing in their home islands.
