President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has shared a message on the occasion of World Tuberclosis Day, reaffirming our commitment to collaborate in the fight against TB through collective action.

In his message, the President noted that we join the global community in reaffirming our commitment to end TB. This year’s theme being "Yes! We Can End TB: Commit, Invest, Deliver" highlights the significance of inspiring greater dedication at all levels to eradicate TB.

"The Maldives stands among the five nations globally to have achieved the targets of 70% case detection and 85 per cent cure rates since 1998, and this achievement is a clear testament of the dedication shown by our healthcare professionals and the effectiveness of our national TB control programme. In our steadfast efforts, we remain vigilant and dedicated to enhancing our efforts in early case detection and ensuring comprehensive treatment coverage," the President stated.

The President further stated that this year we are bolstering our efforts to provide free Tuberculosis Preventive Treatment (TPT) for latent TB cases.

"Furthermore, to ensure accessible and effective care for all, we are strategically integrating TB prevention, screening, diagnosis, and treatment into our primary healthcare model," he added,
