Maldivian, the national airline, has stated that despite introducing "Premium Economy Experience" for passengers traveling to domestic destinations from the 13th of next month, there will be no difficulty in purchasing economy tickets.
Following Maldivian's decision to introduce "Premium Economy Experience", some people on social media have claimed that economy tickets will not be available.
In response, a Maldivian official told "One" tonight that Maldivian will not stop selling economy tickets. Those who want to travel in economy class will be able to purchase these tickets.
"Economy tickets will be available for those who want to travel in economy. The price of economy tickets will not increase, and sales will not be stopped. When booking tickets, both Premium Economy and Economy class will be available. There will be no difficulty in buying economy tickets," the official said.
A Maldivian media official told "One" on the 19th of this month that Maldivian will offer special offers for those traveling in Premium Economy class on domestic flights, and these offers will be available to Premium Economy passengers on domestic routes in the future as well.
According to a statement released by Maldivian, passengers traveling in "Premium Economy" will experience many conveniences and different experiences. This includes 25 kg baggage allowance, one-time date change without additional charge, and priority check-in services.
Maldivian said that passengers traveling on flights from Male' will have access to the Moonimaa Lounge to relax before their journey and enjoy the lounge's refreshments and other facilities. They also said that passengers departing from Dharavandhoo and Ifuru will have access to the lounges at those airports.
Premium Economy passengers will receive a complimentary snack and drink on the flight, as well as fast-track baggage handling service, which means their luggage will be delivered quickly.
Maldivian has now opened sales for the newly introduced Premium Economy tickets. These tickets can be easily booked through the airline's website, mobile app, or other booking channels.
