Former Controller of Immigration, Mohamed Shamaan Waheed, was dismissed from his position yesterday following allegations that he accepted money in exchange for the release of detained expatriates.

One Online has learnt that authorities are investigating claims of immigration officials misusing their positions for personal gain. Acting on a tip-off, police conducted a raid last night, detaining three individuals. Additionally, officers searched Shamaan's residence and reportedly seized some items.

A reliable source informed One Online that Shamaan accepted money to facilitate the release of foreign detainees and claimed that there is sufficient evidence to support the accusation. However, as of now, no formal charges have been filed against him.

When contacted for comment, Shaman remained unavailable and did not respond to messages. Investigations are ongoing.
