Mission for Migrant Workers Maldives (MMWM) has introduced an innovative way to support migrant workers during Ramadan – the MMWM Impact Auction. This is the first auction of its kind in the Maldives, allowing individuals and businesses to contribute skills, services, and experiences instead of direct financial donations.

MMWM’s ‘Share a Meal, Help a Life’ campaign provides iftar meals and basic necessities to migrant workers. However, as fundraising becomes more challenging, MMWM has come up with a creative solution. The impact auction allows people to donate their expertise, time, or experiences, which are then auctioned to raise funds.

How the Auction Works:

  • Individuals can contribute services like photography, yoga sessions, personal coaching, or tuition.
  • Businesses can offer unique experiences such as hotel stays, fine dining, leadership training, or exclusive discounts.
  • Once all entries are reviewed, an online auction will take place. The highest bidder for each service or experience will fund meals and support for migrant workers.
  • Every bid directly translates into meals, with each MVR 50 covering the cost of one iftar meal.

For example, a photography session could provide 15 meals, a yoga class 20 meals, and a hotel stay experience 70 meals. This initiative ensures that contributions go directly towards making a difference in the lives of those in need.

MMWM is calling on individuals and businesses to register their skills or services for the auction through their social media or website. The deadline for registration is tomorrow.
