Maldivian Parliament has been adjourned for the final 10 days of Ramadan and the upcoming Eid al-Fitr holidays. Speaker Abdul Raheem Abdulla announced that the next sitting will take place on May 7th, following the completion of six days of fasting.

The first parliamentary session of the year began in early February, and according to parliamentary rules, the term is set to conclude in May.

Earlier, the Parliamentary Group of the People’s National Congress (PNC) proposed suspending sittings for the entire month of Ramadan. Although the proposal was initially approved by the committee, it was later revised by the parliamentary group.
