The Male’ City Council has awarded a contract worth MVR 4 million for the development of a new stage at the Carnival Saharad. The project, which involves demolishing the existing stage and constructing a new one, has been assigned to UH Investment Private Limited.

According to the City Council, the total cost of the project, including GST, is MVR 4,847,000.00. The contractor has been given a 140-day deadline, starting from March 15, to complete the construction. This includes public holidays, with work expected to be finished by July this year.

The Carnival area, officially known as The Alimas Carnival, is located on Boduthakurufaanu Road. It was inaugurated in 2004 to commemorate the 75th anniversary of The Majeediya School. Over the years, it has become a popular venue for music concerts, political rallies, and other public events.
