Three kilograms of drugs have been seized while attempting to smuggle them into the Maldives by sea.

Maldives Customs said today that the items were seized during a special operation conducted by the authority early this morning to inspect a shipment that arrived in the Maldives yesterday.

The drugs seized during the operation include 2,138 grams of methamphetamine, 1,086 grams of ketamine, and 310 grams of heroin.

Customs said the total weight of the items amounts to 3.5 kilograms and their street value is MVR 6.7 million.

Customs said that the seized drugs have been handed over to the police.
