Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has opened its Henveiru Ferry Terminal and Hulhumale' Ferry Terminal for launch ferry services operating between Male' and the atolls.

At a ceremony held today at the Henveiru Ferry Terminal to inaugurate this service, MTCC's CEO and Managing Director Ahmed Saudy said that the decision to open MTCC's terminals to launches from the atolls was made at the request of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu to find a solution to the current difficulties in transportation.

He also said that seven operators have applied for the service opportunity to use the terminal, and all these operators have applied to use the Henveiru Terminal.

According to MTCC, the parties that have applied to use the terminal include those operating launches to Fenfushi, Mahibadhoo, Dhidhdhoo, Maafushi, Guraidhoo, Gulhi, Gaafaru, Kaashidhoo, B. Thulhaadhoo, Hithaadhoo, Fehendhoo, Goidhoo, and Funadhoo.

MTCC said that with the seven operators using the terminal, 15 launch ferries can be served daily from the Henveiru Terminal, including airport launches and launches going to Crossroads.

According to MTCC, with these seven operators, about 2,000 passengers can be served daily from the terminal.

As launch ferry services begin from the Henveiru Ferry Terminal, each launch will be allowed to dock at the jetty for 30 minutes. A special area has been arranged inside the terminal for passengers to wait between arrival and departure, and terminal toilets will be available for use.
