A person arrested for illegally possessing and using alcohol has been handed over to Maldives Immigration for deportation.

Police said today that Sofigul Islam, 44, a Bangladeshi national, was arrested on the fifth of this month in an operation conducted jointly by the Police Counter Narcotics Intelligence and Drug Enforcement.

Police also said that 18 bottles of alcohol were found in the house where the expatriate was living during the operation.
