Maldivian has begun flights to Cochin and Trivandrum in India using its first wide-body aircraft, the A-330.
The first A-330 flight to Cochin International Airport landed last Saturday afternoon.
Previously, flights to Cochin and Trivandrum were operated using Maldivian's ATR 72 and Airbus A320 aircraft. The Airbus A320 was brought back to the Maldives on July 7 last year after maintenance.
Maldivian's first wide-body aircraft was brought to the Maldives in January. The aircraft has a capacity of 260 passengers. It includes Business, Premium Economy, and Economy class seats and can carry 10 tons of cargo. The aircraft's first flights were to three destinations in China.
Maldivian is also working on purchasing an additional Airbus A-330 aircraft.
