\Work has begun to place sandbags due to flooding caused by heavy rain in Male'.

MNDF said tonight that soldiers are assisting in draining water and placing sandbags as some roads in Male' have flooded due to heavy rain.

Regarding this work, the President's Office Spokesperson Heena Waleed also said in a post on X tonight that relevant institutions are working together to drain water and place sandbags as some roads in Male' have flooded due to heavy rain.

"All relevant government agencies are working together with special attention to minimize the difficulties faced by the public due to the rain, closely monitor the situation of the people, and provide assistance," she said.

It has been raining continuously in Male' since sunset today. As a result, many roads, including major roads in Male', have been severely flooded.

The Maldives Meteorological Service has issued a yellow alert for islands from K. Atoll to M. Atoll from 9:00 PM to 1:00 AM tonight. In addition, an orange alert has been issued for islands from B. Atoll to Dh. Atoll from 9:45 PM to 12:00 AM midnight.
