Minister of Housing and Planning Dr. Abdullah Muthalib has stated that the list of people who have qualified to receive flats under the "Gedhoruverin" scheme will be published today at 3:00 PM.
At a press conference held at the President's Office today, Minister Muttalib said that in the list of 4,000 flat recipients released in the final days of former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih's administration, those qualifying for three-bedroom flats were determined to be those scoring above 76 points, while those qualifying for two-bedroom flats needed 73 points. As a result, 3,721 people were deemed eligible for three-bedroom apartments, and 1,218 people for two-bedroom flats.
"Therefore, the list that underwent verification included 4,939 individuals," he said.
The Minister said that when this government verified the applications of the 4,939 people on the list determined by the previous government to receive flats, 1,820 people qualified. This includes 1,423 people eligible for three-bedroom flats and 397 for two-bedroom flats.
The Minister said that 2,695 applications were determined not to meet the criteria, while 424 applications were removed from the list due to changes in points.
The Minister said that many did not qualify because they submitted documents other than those required. He said that many had submitted a large number of documents from councils stating they did not live on the islands.
The Minister said that those who did not receive flats would have a one-month period to submit complaints through a portal.
"Those marked as not receiving flats will have a one-month period to submit complaints. During this period, those removed from the list can submit complaints through the portal. And if any member of the public has any complaint about someone included in the list, they can submit a complaint to the Ministry by letter or email," the Minister said.
The Minister further said that no flat allocated to anyone on the list announced by the previous government has yet been reassigned to anyone else.
