HDC has decided to plant one million trees and signed a pledge to participate in the program of planting five million trees, which is included in President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's presidential pledges.
In a ceremony held yesterday at Kudagiri, HDC's Managing Director Mohamed Mauroof Jameel signed the pledge to plant one million trees.
"This is an activity carried out to green the islands under HDC's supervision and to participate in the five million tree planting program announced by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, providing HDC's support for this effort," Mauroof said.
In addition, HDC has decided to establish a 100,000 square foot nursery in L. Gan to grow trees needed for the tree planting program.
HDC said that this nursery will be used to grow trees to be planted in Hulhumale', as well as in Rasmale, Kudagiri, Thilafushi, and Gulhifalhu, which are under HDC's supervision.
HDC stated that this program will also pave the way for achieving their goal of greening the islands under HDC's supervision, including Hulhumale'. The corporation's aim is to make all islands under HDC's supervision comfortable and green environments.
