The Academic New Year has been included in the academic calendar to begin on April 6th for this year.

According to the calendar released by the Ministry of Education yesterday, the first term holiday will begin on July 24th. There will be 16 days for the first term holiday.

According to the academic calendar, the second term will begin on August 10th. And the second term will end, and the long holiday will be on December 28th.

Previously in the Maldives, the academic year used to begin in January of each year, but due to the COVID-19 situation, the start of the new academic year was changed to August.

With this change, as the long holiday fell in June/July, during the peak of the rainy season in the southwest monsoon, addressing parents' concerns, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has changed it back so that the new academic year will start in January and end in December as it was before. With this change, from next year, the new academic year will begin in January.

This year's long holiday will be from December 28th to January 27th.
