A young man practicing for a racing competition in Addu City Hulhumedhoo has been admitted to the ICU after an accident.

According to information received by "One", the young man who had the accident is 18-year-old Mohamed Ilm. He had the accident yesterday around 11:30 AM when he lost control of his motorcycle during a racing practice session and crashed into a pillar of a house under construction.

He was first treated at Addu Equatorial Hospital. However, as his condition became serious, he was brought to Male' yesterday for further treatment and has been admitted to IGMH.

An official from IGMH Media told "One" today that the young man is currently in the ICU.

Ilm was practicing for the second edition of the "Enmenge Drag Championship 2025" organized by the Addu Motorsports Association, which was scheduled to begin today in Hulhumedhoo.

Addu Motorsports Association told "One" today that the young man injured in the accident was practicing for their competition.

"He might have been practicing for a month. With teams. If motorcycles are maintained according to regulations during practices, accidents are very rare. Since this sport is an extreme sport, accidents can happen. If done according to regulations, it can proceed without injury," the association said.
