Local Government Minister Adam Shareef has stated that the canned fish cases provided by the government for Ramadan will be distributed until every household receives it, and therefore, people don't necessarily need to wait in long queues to get the canned fish cases.
The distribution of canned fish cases in the Male' area began at 8:30 PM last night. People started queuing from 6:30 PM to get the canned fish cases.
In a post on X last night, Adam Shareef said that considering the distribution of Ramadan gifts in Male' and the public response, they will arrange an additional location for distribution and announce it before tomorrow.
Distribution locations for canned fish cases in the Male' area:
In Male': MIFCO office compound and Henveiru MTCC sawmill
In Vilimale': WAMCO site
In Hulhumale' Phase-1: Umar Zahir Building
In Hulhumale' Phase-2: Hiyaa Flat Tower 10 Youth Center
The Minister posted last night that from tomorrow, in addition to these locations, canned fish cases will be distributed near the four sides of the Galolhu Stadium stairs, Henveiru Stadium, and Hulhumale' Phase 1 and Phase 2.
"As Ramadan gifts are set to be distributed in the coming days, even if you don't join long queues, we will continue distribution even after February 28 until all households receive the Ramadan gift," Adam Shareef said.
"A total of 13 locations, with five tables at each location, will be distributing canned fish"
Some people who queued on Thursday night received their canned fish at 3:00 AM.
"I regret that people had to wait in queues for a long time last night. We are working on increasing manpower and improving arrangements," Adam Shareef said.
