The Ministry of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure has announced that Rasfannu will be temporarily closed to the public from February 22 to 28 due to scheduled maintenance work.
The Ministry made this announcement today in a notice published in the gazette.
"Maintenance work on Rasfannu is scheduled to be carried out from February 22, 2025, to February 28, 2025. As such, we hereby announce to the public that the Rasfannu area will be closed for this work," the Ministry stated.
While the Ministry is temporarily closing Rasfannu to the public, the Male' City Council announced last Sunday that they had decided to temporarily close the Rasfannu beach area to the public due to silt accumulation.
The City Council stated that silt had accumulated to a depth of one foot in an area of 500 square meters in the Rasfannu beach area. Therefore, the beach area would be closed to the public to remove the silt.
The Council had closed Rasfannu to the public only for last Monday on that occasion.
