President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has referred a proposal to appoint non-resident ambassadors to five countries to the Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Relations for review.
The proposed appointments include ambassadors to Brunei, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, France, and Australia. The designated non-resident envoys are:
- Dr Mariyam Shabeena, Ambassador to Malaysia, as Non-Resident Ambassador to Brunei.
- Geela Ali, Ambassador to Belgium, as Non-Resident Ambassador to Luxembourg and the Netherlands.
- Iruthisham Adam, Ambassador to the United Kingdom, as Non-Resident Ambassador to France.
- Mohamed Luvez, Ambassador to Singapore, as Non-Resident Ambassador to Australia.
The decision to seek parliamentary approval highlights the government’s commitment to strengthening diplomatic ties with these nations. The committee will review the nominations before finalizing the appointments.
