The development of the Thinadhoo Industrial Zone has reached 88 percent completion, according to the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC).
MTCC reported that 77 percent of the reclamation work has been completed, along with 96 percent of other reclamation activities. Additionally, 65 percent of the construction of concrete bridges has been finalised.
The Housing Ministry handed over the Thinadhoo land to MTCC in January 2022, with land reclamation and beach protection efforts commencing in November 2022. The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs stated that MTCC was awarded the project to be completed within 660 days.
Key components of the project include acquisition of 10.6 hectares of land, revetment covering 1,521 metres, development of a 555-metre area, 166 metres of sheet pile work, pavement construction over 4,492 square metres, and installation of bollards, fenders, and lamps.
The project is valued at MVR 125 million.
