Authorities have towed a total of 235 abandoned vehicles from the streets of Male’ as part of an effort to clean up and improve the city’s roads.
According to police, the removed vehicles included 201 motorcycles, 31 four-wheelers, and three bicycles that had been left unused for a long time.
The operation began on September 21, 2024, as a joint effort between the Male’ City Council and the police. During the exercise, officials removed vehicle covers, towed damaged and abandoned vehicles, and cleared those marked with dabbers.
This is not the first such initiative. In February 2023, the Transport Ministry, city council, police, and WAMCO conducted a similar programme to clear unused vehicles from the roads of Male’ and Hulhumale’.
Authorities continue to urge vehicle owners to properly maintain and park their vehicles to keep the city clean and organised.
