President Dr Mohamed Muizzu congratulated Maldivian athlete Mariyam Eshal Misbah on winning a silver medal in the junior women’s category at the Asian Pistol and Rifle Cup 2025.

In a post on his official X account, the President called it a historic moment, as Eshal is the first Maldivian to win a silver medal in an Asian-level shooting competition. He noted that she outperformed athletes from 21 countries in a tournament with 23 nations.

The Asian Pistol and Rifle Cup 2025 is currently happening in Bangkok, Thailand. Mariyam Eshal Misbah, a fifteen-year-old student at Majeedhiya School, impressed with her skills and determination, making the Maldives proud.

Her achievement is a big step for Maldivian sports, especially shooting, and inspires young athletes. It also highlights the importance of supporting sports development in the country.
