The Election Commission (EC) has introduced a new online system to regulate political party memberships and prevent unauthorised inductions. Under the amended Political Parties Rules, individuals seeking to join a political party must now apply through the ‘e-Faas’ portal.

This decision comes in response to recent cases where unverified forms were used to add members to parties without their consent. The EC aims to ensure greater transparency and accountability in the membership process.

With the introduction of the 'e-Faas' portal, individuals will have the opportunity to file complaints before their names are officially included in a party’s membership list. This move is expected to prevent fraudulent enrolments and strengthen the integrity of political party memberships.
