R. Kinolhas shore protection project has been successfully completed, safeguarding the island’s coastline.

The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC), which carried out the project, announced its completion on Thursday. The project involved land reclamation of 19,780 cubic meters and the installation of a 650-meter geobag revetment to protect the beach from erosion.

The Housing Ministry awarded the project to MTCC on 18 April 2023, and construction work officially began on 22 February 2024. The initiative, aimed at preserving the natural beauty and stability of the Kinolhas shoreline, is estimated to have cost MVR 11.45 million.

This project is expected to provide long-term benefits to the local community by preventing coastal erosion and ensuring sustainable land use.
