Maldives has reiterated its firm and unwavering support for the establishment of an independent and sovereign State of Palestine, based on pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in line with United Nations resolutions and international law.
In a strong statement, the Maldives rejected policies and actions that threaten peace in the region, including the expansion of illegal settlements, land annexation, and any attempts to displace the population of Gaza. The government also reaffirmed its support for Palestine’s full membership in the United Nations.
The Maldives called on the international community to uphold international law and protect the rights of the Palestinian people.
Emphasising the need for a political solution, the government stressed that lasting peace can only be achieved through a two-state solution, where both nations coexist in security, dignity, and mutual recognition.
