Police are investigating an incident in R. Meedhoo where an officer allegedly assaulted a child.

The incident happened on Thursday night when a group of students were shouting slogans on the road. An off-duty officer asked them to stop, but they refused. When they were told to report to the police station, one student allegedly attacked the officer.

The victim’s family has accused the officer of assaulting the child. A video on social media shows the child pushing the officer to the ground before the officer pushes the child down and allegedly beats him.

The police are reviewing the officer’s actions, and an investigation is underway.
