The First Joint CPA Asia and CPA South-East Asia Regional Conference began today in Lahore, Pakistan. Deputy Speaker of the People’s Majlis, Ahmed Nazim, delivered the opening speech, highlighting the importance of democracy, transparency, and media freedom.
Nazim called for open discussions to strengthen governance and tackle global challenges such as misinformation, economic gaps, and security threats. He urged countries to work together, saying, “No nation can solve these problems alone. We must build partnerships and collaborate for a stronger future.”
The conference, running from February 6 to 10, brings together parliamentarians from across the region. Key attendees include Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and Speakers from Pakistan’s National and Punjab Assemblies, along with delegates from Zambia, Malaysia, and Sri Lanka.
Nazim thanked the Punjab Government and the people of Lahore for their hospitality. The conference will continue with discussions on strengthening regional cooperation and addressing shared challenges.
