Dhiraagu has officially opened registration for the Dhiraagu Fuvahmulah Run 2020, which is set to take place on 2nd May 2020. This is the first time Dhiraagu is holding its run in an atoll, making it a historic event for the Maldives. The run is being organised in collaboration with the Fuvahmulah City Council and the Women’s Development Committee.

Runners can participate in three categories: 5 km, 10 km, and a half-marathon. Only 1,500 runners will be selected, and registration will remain open until the limit is reached. The entry fee for the 5 km and 10 km races is MVR 250, while the half-marathon costs MVR 350. Those running in the half-marathon are also eligible to compete in a dual category.

At a press conference held at Dhiraagu Head Office, Mohamed Mirshan Hassan, Director of Brand and Marketing Communications, announced that MVR 100 from each registration fee will be donated to the Fuvahmulah City Council for local development projects.

A total prize pool of MVR 232,000 has been allocated, with separate rewards for female participants. The first-place winner will receive MVR 25,000, while second and third place winners will receive MVR 15,000 and MVR 10,000, respectively. Additional prizes of MVR 10,000, MVR 8,000, and MVR 6,000 will be awarded for the 10 km and 5 km races.

Dhiraagu also showcased the official race kit and medals for the event. In addition to individual winners, the top three schools with the best performance will be recognised. Following the Fuvahmulah run, Dhiraagu has also scheduled a road run in the Malé region on 24th October 2020.
