A police officer sustained injuries during a violent incident near Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) on Sunday night, according to the Maldives Police Service.

In a statement to the media, police reported that at 8:41 pm, a man was attacked by two assailants on a motorbike in Kanba Aisarani Hingun. The victim, a local man, sustained injuries and is currently receiving treatment at IGMH. However, details of his condition have not been disclosed.

During efforts to control the situation, a policeman deployed in the area was also injured. Authorities confirmed that the officer sustained a leg injury.

The police have launched an investigation into the assault and are working to identify those involved.
