Maldives Police have questioned a 60-year-old local woman and impounded her motorcycle in connection with the death of a Bangladeshi man on the Bridge Highway on 1st February.

According to police, the accident occurred around 2019hrs when a motorcycle crashed into a road barrier near the solar panels on the Hulhumalé-bound lane. However, a video of the incident, which later surfaced, showed the victim being struck by a speeding motorcycle after falling onto the highway.

While the police have not shared the footage with the media, they confirmed that the woman’s driving licence has been suspended, and her bike was towed as part of the investigation.

Authorities have not yet confirmed whether the woman was the rider involved in the second impact but stated that further investigations are underway.
