Maldives Ports Limited (MPL)'s Managing Director Mohamed Wajeeh Ibrahim has been dismissed from his position. The Privatisation and Corporatisation Board (PCB) confirmed that Wajeeh was removed from both his roles as Managing Director and Board Director of MPL.
Wajeeh was appointed to the position on 28th November 2023, following the current government’s assumption of office. His tenure at MPL was preceded by a decade of experience within the company, having served as Assistant General Manager, General Manager, and Assistant CEO between 2013 and 2022.
In addition to his work at MPL, Wajeeh has been a board member of the Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company (MIFCO). He has also held leadership roles in several schools across the Maldives and worked in the finance department of the Ministry of Education.
Wajeeh holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Anglia Ruskin University in the United Kingdom. The reasons for his dismissal have not been publicly disclosed.
