President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has merged the Ministry of Climate Change, Environment and Energy with the Ministry of Tourism to form the new Ministry of Tourism and Environment. Thoriq Ibrahim has been appointed as the minister for the new ministry.

The appointment ceremony took place at the President's Office, where Thoriq Ibrahim took his oath before Chief Justice Uz Ahmed Muthasim Adnan. President Dr Muizzu then handed him his appointment letter.

Following the ceremony, the President met with Minister Thoriq Ibrahim and discussed the importance of promoting the Maldives by integrating environmental conservation with tourism.
