The newly constructed Hankede Data Link Road in Addu City has been opened to the public. The road, part of the Addu Road and Storm Water Drainage Development Project, was completed under the Exim Bank of India's Line of Credit facility.

The Construction Ministry announced that the road was officially opened at 1200hrs. It was handed over to the Maldivian government on 11 August 2024 at a special ceremony attended by Indian External Affairs Minister Dr Subrahmanyam Jaishankar during his official visit to the Maldives.

As part of the broader Addu Land Reclamation and Coastal Protection Project, a total of 184.3 hectares of land have been reclaimed, including areas in Hithadhoo, Maradhoo, and Maradhoo-Feydhoo. To protect the newly reclaimed land, seven kilometres of large boulders and 4.1 km of geotube have been installed along the beaches.

The Hankede Bridge Project is also part of the development plan to improve road connectivity in Addu. The newly completed 1.5-km road links Hithadhoo Gaukhede with Maradhoo, enhancing transport access in the region.
