A man has died following a road accident on Hulhumalé Highway on.

According to the police, the accident occurred at around 2019hrs on Friday when a motorbike crashed into a barrier placed near the solar panels on the lane heading from Hulhumalé to Malé. The barrier had been set up to inform motorists of ongoing roadworks in the area.

The victim, a Bangladeshi national, was rushed to Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) for treatment but succumbed to his injuries at around 0905hrs, police confirmed.

Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident. Further details are expected as the case progresses.
