Former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has stated that he has no sympathy for the dismissal of Ibrahim Faisal as tourism minister or for his father, Speaker Abdul Raheem Abdulla, being left without a position.

Faisal was removed from his post on Tuesday, with Economic Minister Mohamed Saeed temporarily taking over. The government has not provided a reason for the decision.

Speaking at a People's National Front (PNF) meeting, Yameen suggested that the issue was not about an agreement breaking down but about disputes over political divisions. He dismissed concerns over Faisal’s removal, saying, that is what happens to everyone.

Yameen also claimed that cases involving former heads of government corporations, Ibrahim Fazul Rasheed and Muaz Mohamed Rasheed, would not be investigated. He suggested that if police investigations began, statements would be made to defend them.

Additionally, Yameen hinted that efforts to remove Speaker Abdul Raheem Abdulla had begun. This comes after PNC PG leader Ibrahim Falah recently stated that the parliament fully supports President Mohamed Muizzu. However, Falah denied any move to oust Abdul Raheem, saying their relationship remains unaffected.
