President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has announced that work on the Yacht Marina in Uligamu will begin within six months. He made the statement while meeting with the people of Uligan during his ongoing visit to the atolls.
He emphasised that this year’s budget includes several development projects for Uligamu, including the yacht marina. The President stated that the Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) has signed an MoU for the project, and all necessary preparations will be completed in the coming months.
Additionally, he confirmed that the construction of the Uligamu Health Centre has been handed over to the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC), with work expected to begin before Ramadan.
Regarding agricultural development, the President noted that previous administrations had assigned different companies to develop farmland in Uligamu without providing the necessary resources. He pledged to consolidate the project under a single company to ensure proper development.
President Dr Muizzu also addressed stalled infrastructure projects, stating that the government is reviewing contracts and reassigning unfinished work to state-owned companies. He assured that school projects and other developments across the islands would resume in February.
He also reaffirmed his commitment to establishing children’s parks, indoor gyms, and sea-based recreational areas on all islands of the Maldives.
