The Addu City Hankede Data Link Road will be opened to the public on Saturday, the Ministry of Construction has announced.

The road is part of the Addu Road and Stormwater Drainage Development Project, completed under India's Exim Bank Line of Credit. The project was officially handed over to the government on August 11, 2024, during a ceremony attended by Indian External Affairs Minister Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar.

As part of the Addu Land Reclamation and Coastal Protection Project, 184.3 hectares of land have been reclaimed across multiple areas, with coastal protection structures built to safeguard the reclaimed lands. The 1.5-km-long Hankede Bridge connects Hithadhoo Gaukhede and Maradhoo, enhancing connectivity in Addu City.

This project aims to improve infrastructure, transportation, and coastal resilience in the region.
