President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has announced that Maldives Transport Link (RTL) ferry terminals built by the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) will be handed over to Island Councils.

During his visit to HA. Molhadhoo, the President stated that over 40 ferry terminals have not yet been completed or officially transferred. He confirmed that MTCC has now been instructed to hand over these terminals through agreements with local councils.

President Dr Muizzu stated that MTCC's construction works will be completed by February hopefully, allowing councils to manage the terminals.

The RTL ferry service, operated by MTCC, is part of the Integrated National Public Ferry Network, which aims to connect the Maldives with a high-speed ferry system. Currently, RTL services are available in nine atolls.
