For the first time, the Dhiraagu Maldives Road Race (DMRR) will take place in Fuvahmulah City on May 2, 2025. The event, called 'Dhiraagu Fuvahmulah Run', is being organised in partnership with the Fuvahmulah City Council and the Women’s Development Committee. Dhiraagu plans to open registration in the first week of February through dmrr.mv.

At the launch event in Fuvahmulah, Dhiraagu Chief Commercial Officer Ali Riyaz noted that this would be the first time the race is held outside Malé City, adding to its significance. He highlighted the opportunity for participants to experience Fuvahmulah’s natural beauty, culture, and hospitality while running on an internationally certified route. He also expressed confidence that the event would help establish Fuvahmulah as a global destination for runners.

Fuvahmulah City Mayor Ismail Rafiq described hosting the race as an honour for the island and believed it would be a chance to showcase Fuvahmulah’s unique landscape to the world. He encouraged runners from across the Maldives and beyond to take part in the event and assured that the city was prepared to warmly welcome all participants.

The Dhiraagu Maldives Road Race is the country’s first and only international race listed on the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS) World Running Calendar and features a World Athletics Certified Race Route.

Dhiraagu stated that expanding the race to Fuvahmulah reflects its commitment to promoting a healthy lifestyle, strengthening community engagement, and supporting local tourism.
