During his visit to HA. Marandhoo, President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has said the government has found ways to resume stalled island projects, with many set to begin this year. Major projects will be completed within three years, he added.
He highlighted plans to build housing units on multiple islands and blamed project delays on the previous government awarding too many contracts to a single company. The same company assigned to solve Marandhoo’s mining issue will now work on 20 more islands, with advance payments released.
President Dr Muizzu reaffirmed his commitment to tackling local issues, including embankments, erosion, futsal grounds, and health centre upgrades. He emphasised that his visits are focused on real work, with ministers involved to speed up progress, warning that delays only increase costs.
