The Thakandhoo Island Council has been assigned the task of installing a Bank of Maldives (BML) ATM, as part of President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s efforts to expand banking services nationwide.

At a ceremony in Thakandhoo, the agreement was signed by Council President Hussain Naeem and BML CEO & MD Mohamed Shareef. Currently, banking services on the island are provided through a BML agent.

The government plans to install 150 ATMs across 90 islands and aims to add ATMs in 17 more islands by March. The goal is to ensure ATM services in all islands by the end of the year.
