The foundation has been laid for the new H. Thakandhoo Council building as part of President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s visit to Haa Alif Atoll. Minister Adam Shareef officiated the ceremony.

The government has awarded Hexter Global, a Malaysian firm, the contract to build council offices in 55 islands under a contractor financing model.

During his visit, President Dr Muizzu also inaugurated the new police station, inspected archaeological sites, and met with the Thakandhoo Council, Women's Development Committee, and residents. He announced plans to expand cultural tourism on the island by protecting its heritage sites.
