President Dr Mohamed Muizzu met with the Utheemu Island Council, Women’s Development Committee (WDC), and local leaders to discuss the island’s key development needs. The meeting took place at the Utheemu Council Secretariat.

The Council raised concerns about coastal erosion, land allocation challenges, and the need to include a nearby island under Utheemu’s jurisdiction. They also called for improvements to the health centre, the establishment of a waste management facility, and preservation efforts for Utheemu Ganduvaru, including repairing its damaged heritage flag.

President Dr Muizzu assured that these issues would be thoroughly reviewed and addressed. Ministers accompanying him shared updates on current and planned projects to improve the island’s infrastructure and services.
