Ibrahim Falah, the Parliamentary Group Leader of PNC and MP for Inguraidhoo constituency, has stated that the PNC Parliamentary Group is not working to remove Abdul Raheem Abdullah from his position as Speaker of the People's Majlis.
Following the dismissal of Abdul Raheem's son Ibrahim Faisal from the position of Tourism Minister, rumors have spread about tensions between President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu and Abdul Raheem.
Consequently, there have been rumors about attempts to remove Abdul Raheem from the Speaker's position and isolate him from PNC affairs.
However, denying these rumors, Falah told "One" today that there is no strain in the relationship with Abdul Raheem within PNC and there is no "conflict" either.
"The talk about trying to remove Abdul Raheem from the position of Speaker of the People's Majlis is an outright lie. No such thing is happening. There are no issues with Abdul Raheem within the party," Falah said.
Falah said that due to today's events, various parties might spread such rumors, but these are baseless stories.
After Faisal's dismissal as Tourism Minister, Abdul Raheem posted on X today, saying that Faisal worked honestly and sincerely in his ministerial position.
In an interview with "Dhauru" newspaper regarding this matter, Abdul Raheem somewhat criticized the government. He said there would be no reason to dismiss Faisal and that such a step wouldn't be taken if relations with President Muizzu were good.
The President's Office has not revealed the reason for Faisal's dismissal from the ministerial position.
