Hithadhoo Central MP Ahmed Azan has called for senior officials of Fenaka Corporation to be summoned to Parliament over ongoing electricity problems in Addu City.
In a letter to Speaker Abdul Raheem Abdulla, MP Azan accused Fenaka officials of negligence in resolving the power crisis. He noted that some spare parts for Addu’s power plant have been pending for over a year. Out of 17 engines at the plant, only 13 are operational, with three unrepaired despite ongoing issues.
MP Azan also highlighted a meeting on May 14, where lawmakers from Addu City were assured by Fenaka officials that the needed parts would be sent within seven days—a promise that remains unfulfilled.
He has requested the Parliament's State-Owned Enterprises Committee to summon Fenaka Managing Director Mohamed Najah, current and former procurement heads, finance officers, and Chief Technical Officer Abdulla Nasheed for questioning.
