President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has stated that the Maldives aims to incorporate high-end e-learning resources, artificial intelligence and virtual reality into our educational system to chart a brighter pathway for our future generations.

The President made the statement in a message on International Day of Education.

"As we celebrate the International Day of Education, we recognise the significance of education in empowering individuals through the power of knowledge. This year’s theme of the day “AI and education: Preserving human agency in a world of automation”, underscores the transformative potential of artificial intelligence in our education system, while maintaining our human essence. In this contemporary era, it is now a necessity for technology and education to align and integrate effectively, the President stated.

He further noted that in our geographically dispersed island nation, the Maldives aims to incorporate high-end e-learning resources, artificial intelligence and virtual reality into our educational system to chart a brighter pathway for our future generations. The Maldives educational system is integrating digital technology to curriculums, through digitising textbooks and implementing a competency-based hybrid learning model. In addition, enhancing STEAM education to spark the young minds is of significant importance to the Maldives.

"Today while we reflect on the prominence of education, I sincerely express my gratitude to the educators and individuals in the educational continuum of this nation and beyond, who are dedicated to building skills through education of our children and youth.

I reaffirm the commitment of the Government to ensure every child in the country receives quality education that nurtures their young minds, instils values, promotes creativity, and prepares them for an ever-evolving world," he further added.
