President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu officially inaugurated the Innamaadhoo Volleyball Court this morning during a ceremony held as part of his ongoing visit to the islands of Raa Atoll. The event was attended by several ministers, Inguraidhoo MP Ibrahim Falah, and members of the Innamaadhoo Island Council.
Speaking about the occasion, Acting Secretary General of the Innamaadhoo Council, Imran Shareef, highlighted the swift progress made under President Dr Muizzu’s administration, including the installation of lights and the opening of the court’s outer gate within a year of assuming office.
President Dr Muizzu’s visit to Raa Atoll is part of his broader efforts to closely monitor and address the concerns of local communities. Over three days, the President has already visited eight islands in the atoll, meeting with island councils and women’s development committees to discuss pressing development needs and priorities.
Sports development has been a key focus of President Dr Muizzu’s administration, with nearly MVR 250 million invested in renovating and upgrading sports facilities across the atolls over the past year. The inauguration of the Innamaadhoo Volleyball Court is part of this larger initiative to enhance recreational facilities for communities.
Accompanied by ministers and officials from various government institutions, the President is set to visit 11 islands in total during his tour of Raa Atoll.
President Dr Muizzu is expected to return to Malé later today.
