The police have today stated that former Managing Director of Housing Development Corporation (HDC), Ibrahim Fazul Rasheed, is suspected of destroying official documents of the company.

While a police media official confirmed this suspicion to 'One' today, no details were shared as it is an ongoing investigation.

Fazul's passport has been withheld and he has been banned from leaving the country in connection with a case where plots of land in Hulhumalé were given to some people who did not receive land under the Binveriyaa scheme. As part of the investigation into this case, the police searched Fazul's residence on December 23 last year.

While some electronic items were taken from the house for investigative purposes, 'One' has learned that the police also took over a million rufiyaa in cash. The police have not officially confirmed this yet.
